Hi and welcome to my tribute page to Christer Lindarw, Sweden's foremost drag performer! Mr. Lindarw is very famous here in Sweden, having performed in drag since the seventies and still going strong. As you'll see in the image galleries, Christer is and was very beautiful, as well as a very talented showgirl, comedian and fashion designer. Mr. Lindarw is not a transsexual and hasn't had any surgery of any kind. He also doesn't dress in drag outside the stage. He is, naturally, gay, and an inspiration to many gay people in Sweden. So far, I don't have nearly enough material on Christer, so if you have something you'd like to contribute, feel free to send it to me at stefan@lindarw.net. History1953. Christer is born in Eskilstuna, south of Stockholm, Sweden. 1970s. Moves to Stockholm and trains as a fashion designer at the Beckman institute (Christer designs all stage clothes himself, and has designed clothes for many other famous artists. He also makes Sweden's most glamorous wedding dresses). Dresses as a girl for the first time at a party. Also participates in a West Side Story production as a chorus girl, and reportedly steals the show. 1976. Starts the dragshow troupe After Dark at the club with the same name in Stockholm. Originally uses the stage name "Zsa Zsa Shakespeare" (after Zsa Zsa Gabour and William Shakespeare, presumably). Meets Lasse Flinckman, the second biggest star of After Dark (specializing in comic roles), and Nils-Albert Eriksson, another long-time member. 1980. First show of many at Hamburger Börs, one of Stockholm's largest venues. 1984. Guest performance in San Francisco in the United States. 1989. Selected as one of Sweden's most beautiful women in the magazine Veckorevyn - quite an honor for a guy. 1996. 20-year anniversary show, which runs for three years. 2004. Finishes second in the Swedish rounds of the Eurovision Song Contest with "La Dolce Vita". Show with the same name at Tyrol (don't miss it if you're in Stockholm). The exhibition "Dressed for success" at the Dansmuseet shows a selection of Christer's stage clothes (starts November 26).
